Large areas of Thailand have been flooded in 2011. Flooding was partly caused by long rains, minor floods are common in the raining season in Thailand. Before the raining season started the hydro power dams have not released sufficient water to be able to buffer the rains. Releasing large amounts of water from the dams during the heavy rains have caused the worst floods in Thailand as people can remember.

Photos are taken 31 October 2011, northwest of Bangkok, Nonthaburi province, Sai Noi. I made the trip for an assignment to advice a company about a worst case scenario for electrical power outage during a flood, and how to use the available emergency generators that they had. My experience from my previous career in electrical power distribution systems for large industrial and offshore applications was used well.

Large areas north, east and west of Bangkok have been flooded. Central Bangkok had a narrow escape. Our photography tours are ongoing, and have not been affected. The dry season has started with nice sunny weather, in central Bangkok you can hardly notice something has happened, only the river is flowing faster then normal.

This was a short video taken on he way back.

While doing keyword research for search engine optimizing of my website BKK Tours and this site, BKK Photography, I was looking at the trend of the keywords Bangkok Tour.

It is clearly seen that the trend is down at the moment, with the political unrest here in April and May people unfortunately start to look elsewhere. Good news is that the demonstrations and unrest have ended and Bangkok is peaceful again. Hopefully things keep stable. With a local guide, who knows his way around and is up to date with the local news, it was easy to avoid avoid the hotspots. The hotspots have disappeared, but if you feel more secure it may be a good idea to have a local guide showing you around.

Thailand and Bangkok have some great places to be discovered and beautiful people to be met. A large group of Thai people depend on the tourist business, please join us, and others, to have a wonderful Thai experience again with our custom made photo tours. With a local guide, who knows all the good places and avoids the typical tourist problems, you will optimize your result from your valuable trip. With our local rates you will receive personal service at a most reasonable value. Hope to see you soon in beautiful Thailand. Please use the contact form to contact us about the possibilities.

We had the great honour to be invited to join in the TV recordings for Co van Kessel’s bicycle tour. His famous Bangkok bicycle tour will be shown on local TV soon. He was the first to organize bicycle tours in Bangkok. I owe him a lot of credit, I met my wife Air on this tour when she was working as a tour guide for his tour.

It was a great day on a bicycle in the hot season. Temperatures up to 36, but on the bike that’s no problem. This tour is great for photography of local people and their lifestyle.

Experience the heart of Old Siam: Rattanakosin island, the historical center of Bangkok. Most visitors to the city will never experience this part as many of these sites lie outside the regular tourist circuit. It has a great charm with many old buildings, fine temples and workshops where Buddha images are made. It is one of the favorite places to stroll around with our special photo tours.

A walking tour in Chinatown is one of the tours that is highly recommend for photographers visiting Bangkok. It is a walking tour for a great experience in vibrant Chinatown. Many small alleys are part of the Chinatown maze. Walking gives the great opportunity to discover many hidden treasures. Local markets, peoples houses, chat with the local people, view the local businesses, this is a great experience that you will never forget. This tour can be organized during day and evening.
