Co van Kessel bicycle tour – TV recordings

We had the great honour to be invited to join in the TV recordings for Co van Kessel’s bicycle tour. His famous Bangkok bicycle tour will be shown on local TV soon. He was the first to organize bicycle tours in Bangkok. I owe him a lot of credit, I met my wife Air on this tour when she was working as a tour guide for his tour.

It was a great day on a bicycle in the hot season. Temperatures up to 36, but on the bike that’s no problem. This tour is great for photography of local people and their lifestyle.

Lop Buri, Monkey temple

We were heading to Wat Tan En, north of Ayutthaya, in Bangpahan district. The plan was to photograph flying foxes that are resident in this temple. However the local monks had decided to trim the trees and all the flying foxes were gone. As an alternative destination we choose Wat Phra Prang Sam Yod in the town of Lop Buri. Another temple where animals are the permanent residents, here many monkeys stay at the temple ruins. The change in plans made it a fun day out for photography. Driving time from Bangkok is less then 2 hours.

Phra Prang Sam Yot is Lop Buris best known landmark and provincial symbol. A former Hindu Shrine built in the 13th century in the classic Bayon style of Khmer architecture, the compound comprises three prangs (towers) linked by a corridor. The three laterite and sandstone spires decorated with classic stucco are believed to have originally represented the Hindu Trimurti; Brahman (the creator), Vishnu (the preserver) and Siva (the destroyer).

Experience the heart of Old Siam: Rattanakosin island, the historical center of Bangkok. A walking tour in Chinatown is one of the tours that is highly recommend for photographers visiting Bangkok. It is a walking tour for a great experience in vibrant Chinatown. Many small alleys are part of the Chinatown maze. Walking gives the great opportunity to discover many hidden treasures. Local markets, peoples houses, chat with the local people, view the local businesses, this is a great experience that you will never forget. This tour can be organized during day and evening.
